Yamaha Wave Blaster 1
1995 Model
This ski has been very heavily modified and not for the beginner or average enthusiast, the ski itself is the hardest to ride and smallest sit down made by Yamaha, a 1 seater only.
The Engine has been very heavily modified and is not for the inexperienced.
Standard this ski made 55hp from the factory, this motor is currently around the 145-155hp mark with much more left in it.
Used to have 46mm Twin Mukinin Carbs but was unrideable ( a little too much throttle and there was no chance of holding on).
With the Twin Carbs the motor is capable of around the 180-200 hp mark.
The Performance and grip of this ski is amazing and has to be ridden like a race bike, many times my shoulder has touched the water during tight turns.
The steering system on this ski is a full UMI steering system.
Top speed of over 100kph but unsure of exact speed due to the motor still being run in. The motor itself has only had 3 hours on it and is still another 7 full hours away from being fully run in. Extreme time and care has been taken with this motor and it has not yet been taken over 3/4 throttle and not thrashed at all.
No expense has been spared at all during the build process of this ski, a few people on these forums know me and know how much time and effort has gone into every step.
The ski itself is an amazing to ride, it only weighs around the 140kg mark compared to a new gp1300r which weighs around the 300kg mark so the power to weight ratio is around / over 1hp to every 1 kg.
The acceleration is massive and a little too much throttle jumps the ski right out of the water and up to the 80 – 100 kph mark in around 10m.
The ski itself is the limiting factor of the top speed as the ski begins to skip on the water like a rock loosing traction under the power.
This ski has destroyed a friends new 2006 Yamaha with the R1 motor in it while being very conservative on take off and keeping below 3/4 power due to the motor still being run in.
The Ski is 2 Stroke and uses pre-mixed fuel – always ran bp ultimate and can use avgas for more performance.
