Nope. Am on semi compact currently and am going full compact for a crack at 3 peaks Vic next year. Reckon I am gonna need it :)

I feel the need to goto a semi compact now.
Understandable using a full compact over east, but unless you're a rookie I see compacts being a little pointless here in Perth :)
^^^ Agreed. I find the semi fine anywhere in Perth, but expect to be deep in struggle town in the 3 peaks :) and always prefer cadence to climb. Nothing worse than hitting the shifters for that next lower gear to find you are already there :(
Just run a setup like this guy did for the Dirty Dozen (would suck if your chain dropped though).

Hey guys, im after some semi decent rechargeable front/rear bike lights. "Moon" pops up a lot in my search's, are they any good?
After a few years the plastic brackets on mine have snapped off. They were $50 items each.
They are ok lights I guess but I'll prob be looking at other brands next up.
I run the Moon lights - no issues with em. Had them for 2 winters now. Running the thin narrow versions. Be good to your shit and it will be good to you!
Chasin some 700c fixie wheel btw if anyone has a cheap set going. even just a rear would be fine. Want to skid out all my used roadie tyres. Knew they had to be good for something :)
Moon LX70 for the rear. Uses a silicone band instead of the flimsy plastic brackets. Also comes with a few different profile rubber pads so it sits properly on aero posts.
Bontrager Ion 700 up front. 700 lumens, also has a cool pulse mode which has a solid light with a brighter flash, so you can see and be seen.
My china light has been nothing but a dream. only annoying thing is the external battery that needs to be secured to the frame somewhere.
I use nothing but Moon and have done for several years on my road based bicycles, they're my favourites. Battery lasts ages, the quality of the construction is excellent and they never let me down.
For off road, Gloworm is what I like and they're not cheap but they're amazing.
Looks like a good buy for that money.
You can fix the gap int the right hand shifter position by sliding the brake quick release slider over - see 35 seconds into this video.

Moon
Great value for money and good light spread
Another one for Moon here, I've got Front and Rear and very happy.
for MTB I have some no name 4billion Lumens* things that I bought a few years ago, one on the helmet and the other on the bars. (*may be exaggerated)
Solar Storm ... does the job out in the bush.
Moon are awesome lights and up until 600lumens (I think), its all charging via usb - rather convenient in my book.
Going back to set weight, here's how my Olmo project is weighing up.
Anticipating somewhere around 8kg once I've finished restoring it. Sits just under 6kg as is. Bikes in pieces and I've paint stripped the frame. Will be giving it over to a mate who owns a painting business to put the colour on. Going for white with a yellow pearl.
Not bad for an old steel frame bit.

Just got a good deal on a new groupset so I'll have a 105 5800 (11speed) groupset up for grabs in a week or so.
~2500km old
No cassette or chain (keeping these).
Wheelset nearly 2.5 kg on its own, plus 2.6kg frame and fork.. It's going to be difficult to get it under 8kg.
On the subject of moon lights.. Can you buy them locally.. Looking at helmet torches for firefighting and they could be a good option.. But I need to look a the mounting options prior to purchase
Yeah plenty of shops carry them. TBE, Cyclemania, etc. Also check bikeexchange.com.au
Helmet torch?
I use Petzl. light and awesome light output.
