Yeah..can raise the seat.
Can always get a long setback post (Angled back slightly) and a longer stem to stretch the bike out a bit. Mind you, a longer stem (particularly on the Reign) will not make the steering as sharp.

My Parents-in-law got me one of those trainer rigs for Chrissy. Where you hook your standard bike upto it, and it has a magnetic thing inside kind of like a dyno, and it's adjustable.
So time to find a cheap rim so I don't waste my brand new Maxxis on the hardtail !
Little holiday project....
Purchased a cheap set of wheels from CRC and some Avid BB5 brakes from ebay and with my old/spare parts, built up my old bike again.
Just need to find my old SDG Bel-Air seat to pop on it. Spotted a few carbon straight rigid forks on ebay for ~$80. Tempted.

Nice work. I need to put an order in to CRC in the next few weeks if anyone wants to get onboard - PM me.
I'm out of the saddle for a few weeks now, came off out at Pile Rd. Knee first into front wheel spokes, nice little gash :(
My forks have started to have a little play in them, more than likely to be the bushes. Also had some fluid literally piss out of the valve when letting a bit of pressure out of them last week - I assume the seals have gone?
So it's dead clear that the forks need some TLC - suggestions of where I should go?
I would prefer somewhere with a quick turnaround time.
What sort of cost would I be looking at?
FYI: These are 2-3 year old Recon 335's (OEM forks, I think they are much the same as the retail 351's)
My forks are a bit beyond that stage lol. I've been told Malaga Cycles can do them instore. Most other bike stores just send them to Rock Shox over east which usually involves a few weeks turnaround.
Finally got around to shortening my brake hoses today...the bled them afterwards - was dead easy!
Collected Forks from Malaga Cycles today (one of the very few stores who can rebuild them instore - most others send them over east with a 3-week tunraround).
Brilliant job...forks feel like new.
Also took the shitter I built a few posts back for a spin this evening for the first time...sooo fucking quick.
eff SRAM chains.
2nd one that has done this in the matter of 6 months. My missus uses this bike to ride on the rode, that is it. went down our curb to go onto the road.

where it goes over the chain stay it goes horizontal. she's effed.
time to go shimano !
From Experience...Shimano are no better. I had an Deore XT chain last only 9 months with minimal riding. $80 down the drain.
Use a decent dry wax based lubricant. Apply weekly.
I've been using YBN 901 chains ever since. Drilled plates shed dirt easier, weight saving as well...if you're anal about that. Gold finish reduces the risk of rust and what not. The hollow pins and drilled plates supposedly assist in lubing the chain as well. From what I understand, they are just a Taiwanese replica of the $100+ KMC chains, but still work just as well.
Just search for 'YBN 901' on ebay....

Back in the day when I use to ride, mainly park due to the fact that I couldn't get down to goaties or gunjin often. My claim to fame, was an ok park rider but MUCH prefered north-shore and free ride sort of stuff. Doing drops on a hardtail was a motherfucker.
Road an 07 Avanti Derelikt Type 3, ran DH Minion Tyres which saved my life so many times. Not the most popular bike but 7005 grade frame, hayes hydraulics, Husselfelt cranks stems ect. Can't remember forks, they were DJ's but not mazrochis. Sorry for the spelling errors on brands, but the bikes been in the shed for 2 years.

If anyones down this way over the weeekends, we head to Pile RD nearly every Sunday morning at bout 7.30, and generally do a couple of hours up the top on marked and unmarked trails. If you want to come along just send us a PM, it's pretty easy to get there now we have a shortcut through some back roads.
Pete.
Anyone else ride downhill?
I don't get out as often as I'd like and usually end up riding with a bunch of XC riders who punish the fuck out of me uphill.
Got an old classic VPS Dorco that hits the scales at a touch over 18Kg (40lbs) but absolutely bombproof.

Massive stanchions on those forks protecon!
I ride a bit of downhill / freeride also.
If you are ever keen for a ride let me know.
The goat farm snake run is great now if you havent ridden it since they rebuilt it.
Bought myself a new pushy Frame the other Day 2001 Orange 222 going to build up a pretty mean DH bike in the coming months.
Hoping to pick up a set of 2010 Boxxer WC's in the next few weeks.
Brakes, Cranks, Cassettes, Chains and Rear Derailluer will all be Shimano Saint. Bars, Seat post, Front and rear hubs and Seat will be Dabomb bits.
Got to get the frame Sprayed or powdercoated looking at a metallic or pearl Gunmetal Grey, also waiting on a new stickerkit in white and also some new bearings for the Rear Trailing Arm from Orange in the UK.
Let the Fun begin!
rexhunta - you got an email addy? PM me. My missus' brother lives in Bunbury and always looking for people to ride with at Pile Rd :)

Shit yeah Boxxer Races' :)
Should wack them on that Orange 222 VS50WA.
Yeah they're the famous Stratos S8 USDs. Eight inches of buttery smooth open bath :)
Mmm last rode the snake run when they had the state DH round there a few years back (they'd already done all the work to the start line).
