there's no doubt in my mind that top tier rally drivers are actually insane haha
the quote at the beginning "one wrong gear change can loose you the race" (or something to that effect) couldn't be more true. I never actually realised that until recently. I was watching some stage of some part of the WRC a couple months ago and was amazed that the top 3 - 4 guys constantly come within seconds of each other. These guys must be fucking magicians.
The next best guys, which I'm sure would be 100x better than any average joe, just fall so far behind it isn't funny. Top group had like 30 seconds max difference, due to a fuck up as well. And the other guys were all minutes behind. And then Ken Block, who we all know is a capable driver (fair enough stunts might not translate directly to the track, or lack there of) was around 7 mins behind the top guys.
