I remember someone trying to do this and the bank note is only worth the % that it is complete?
ie; 80% of $100 note is worth $80.
yeah nah, that $400 would be worth $0, and you could in theory get charged with tampering with federal currency :)
I do recall on the news one night there was mention of fake $50 notes floating around.
Police encouraged people to hand them in, in which case you would be reimbursed $0.
Yeah, nah.
LOL@ranga hahahaha
I remember someone telling me they "heard" that if you had a fair few $50 notes, you could cut out small pieces of each one (small enough to not decrease the value of the note) and stick all those small pieces together to make another $50...seems like a bloody big waste of time though.
Years back my mates came close to being done for attemted fraud.
They used locktite to glue 5 cent pieces together with the queens head facing outside on both sides then painted them with gold pen and the feel , look and wieght was spot on to a 2 dollar coin. We would go to freo and nb and take 5 at a time and ask people if they would change it for a $10 note. They made bulk cash until one of them took a handful in to liquer land and tried to buy a bottle of expensive burbon. Shop owner held him there till fraud squad came
Got a warning but came close to getting reemed lol
