bully at school.... now living his dreams.... this whole legislation is shite.... years back it was quite legal in WA to use your phone sensibly whilst driving... however, now we are all baby killlers...... whilst I agree that with the new spec mobiles people are able to do a lot more on them and it diminishes their road attention...
Ever driven a new car , there are like no less than 100+ different buttons that you are able to press and interact with at a set of lights, yet touch your phone in the same circumstances and the WApol will thuck you up.....
but its okay to use your sat nav and for taxi/delievery drivers to use the computers they have above the dash
I disagree totally. I have seen so many instances of people swerving around and nearly crashing completely oblivious to the world on phones while driving. I dont have a problem with inattentive drivers being targeted. If anything hoons have been off the menu for a week or so as they are focussing on a real issue.
The legislation allows for gps/sat nav and computers and even mobile phones in ALL emergency vehicles and data terminals in some vehicles/drivers.
However if a cop thinks you are driving dangerously or without due care using one of those units there is legislation to cover that also.
^^ and those are the people that are oblivious whether they are on the phone or not.......... point is mobile phone use has been singled out, as has driving 5 or 10 over the limit when there are plenty more pressing issues at stake such as the real attention that people have with anything whilst in control of a vehicle...... people are taught all the wrong shit when going for licence....(what ever happened to the lost art of holding a roadmap whilst steering with your knees .. ) seriously a lot of drivers cant even scan ahead with their eyes to read what the traffic is doing let alone change the stereo or a phone at the same time....

1200HP 4 rota.....,m,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,mmmmmm yum no time to control phone whilst driving that....maybe that is the solution... more powerful cars so that people have to think and dont have a spare second to use a mobile...
i dislike how you can get an automatic only licence, you need an auto licence only because you lack the coordination necessary to operate a manual vehicle, i believe you lack the coordination necessary to operate a motor vehicle period
Exactly, it would be funny if we had a super complex system where if you got yor manual licence you are allowed to drive an automatic and use your phone at the same time because you have proved you have half a brain.
Still blows me away that people are so spastics as to not be able to add a gear stick and third pedal to the equation to drive.
Only reason they are having a phone 'crack down' is revenue, why else would the fines be raised from 150 to 400 at the same time these guys start operating. If it was actually dangerous and they care about the babies thay would have tripled the demerit points.
Probably going to get some hate on this but in all honesty I doubt it is for "revenue" and more so pingpingpingpings actually stop using their phones. I have seen way to many dumb pingpingpingpings checking facebook at traffic lights and when the light goes green they are still sitting there with a cue of cars behind them, fucken needing to chuck a shit so aint nobody got time to wait while you check your phone pingpingpingping, and then you have the dumbpingpingpingpings who run red lights because they was texting or on the phone, Look at that dumb bitch who drove into the Coles delivery guy, he had a fluro vest on, had the hazard lights on, was clearly visible and she drove right into him taking both his legs, why? bitch was on her phone.
I'm all for idiots getting nailed on their phones, 2 seconds of inattention at speed and a whole lot can happen.
In regards to GPS's and shit, you are NOT allowed to touch it while you are moving, goes for anything like that, Taxi's are breaking the law when they play with shit while moving.
The difference between now and 10 years ago, is road users, way more, the infrastructure isn't there to support it either, so it's fucking dangerous full stop.

Never said I agreed with it.. Just be careful what you wish for is more my point. Was an article from years ago I will have a look for it later.
Fines wise in WA I dont think we actually have it to bad.. And in anycase its all voluntary anyway.

These are the fixed wings we have going this year. The skycrane is still stuck on the wharf due to ongoing strikes. The pilots of the Bells are getting the shits with people getting close during operations, so if you do happen to be in the area give them as much room as you can and remember the pilots are concentrating on a thousand things at once and they don't need onlookers to be distracting them (like the kids in the background). There's a huge wow-factor with these but they are working and low flying is extremely dangerous. If something went wrong (which is always possible) the danger zone is very large.
