    Damage to Wheels

Was driving down a suburban street last night, and a dog decided to run out from the other side of the road from right to left. I couldn't swerve right, so had to go left. Anyhow unlucky enough to go up the kerb, where the driveway section meets the kerb (abit hard to explain). Anyhow long story short, it's damaged the left front and left rear rims.

I guess you'd call it gutter rash, but shits me as the wheels were otherwise perfect, and the cars only 2000km old. Their 20" GTS rims, in shadow chrome (so like a silvery colour). It's really just scratched the colour off on the lip.

Anyhow, idieally i'd like to get them loking as new again, is there any shops in Perth that can fix this?

I would almost suggest rubbing the scratch back with sandpaper (differing grades) myself, and then getting them painted. Can this be done also?

alliance rim repairs in ozzy park as ^^^ Tocchi suggests... had many wheels done there. Always good still be looking at up to $700 a wheel for major damage.

Mate had rays engineering wheels re welded after a kerb smash there and they are sweet also.

Realised my old man knows the owner there. It's only really 'gutter rash', so they said around $140 a wheel which is fine by me. I was worried there would be nowhere to get alloy/mag sort of wheels done!

    Their in Malaga now though

$700? What the hell did you do?

I had 4-5 buckles and 3 lots of curb rash between my 4 wheels, Briffa did the lot for $500 and polished the dish/lip as well.
This was for a 3 piece wheel, which was disassembled, then resealed.

Often people not in the industry are quick to say something is "not bad" when in actual fact, it is. Although cosmetically it might have looked fine, remember its a turning component on the vehicle and thus needs to be balanced correctly. What might look like a small buckle, may have significant effect on the overall balancing. $130 per mag sounds pretty reasonable to me, even for minor gutter rash.
