I fucking hate vegetarian activists. If it's your own choice, go nuts. Leave everyone else out of it though. It's the natural fucking order that animals eat other animals, it isn't cruel or bad. I completely agree that the meat industry itself is fucked up, we shouldn't keep 1000's of animals in tiny cages, feed them shit and kill them inhumanely. Something should be done about all of that. But the basic principal of it all, eating animals, is not fucking morally wrong. So shut the fuck up.

Depends which way you look at it, the older spiritualistic lifestyles typically looked at animals as sentient beings with their own purpose of conscious expansion - I think the Vedic lifestyle is one of them, understanding universal laws and their application to spiritual growth - nothing religious.
The "Western" world has become far detached from these lifestyles.
Each to their own like you say though, we all have our pathway in life...

I agree with you in a way (or at least what you said). I don't see animals as food only, or completely dispensable lifeforms, solely for our consumption.
I respect animals, and believe they may very well be sentient and have they're own "consciousness" But even if they do, equally so do the lions eating the zebras.
In an ideal world we would hunt individual, wild, animals to eat and use every last scrap of them, for food or for other purposes, and we would be thankful for what that animal has given us. You're right though, as a culture we are very detached from that, and it is a bad thing. Meat in packets, animal farms and all of that.
But I still believe we should eat meat.
Pretty insane.
