I hope the coppers note down his name and they cant find a parking spot when someone is standing over him because they are unhappy they got a ticket.
That said im not sure why they parked there. Usually Emergency Vehicles park in the median strip along there.
Believe I've heard it somewhere (could well have been when I was doing work for WAPOLUN) that cops are only exempt from parking laws if they were parked illegally for official police business.

Correct. The term you are looking for is routine official duties which includes meal breaks and when you consider that most shifts Police are delayed in taking meal breaks or called back from a meal break early, not having to spend 5 minutes looking for a parking spot means they can get back on the road sooner.
We are also assuming they've just parked up to get a coffee. They may have responded to something and picked up a coffee on the way back. Bastards.
They're also exempt. All they are doing is causing unnecessary paperwork.

If parking somewhere is illegal due to obstructing other drivers/ safety issues etc then I think speed camera operators should be fined.
Why should they be exempt when they don't carry out emergency related duties?
